Our daughter is 1!

Wow, Brad and I have successfully made it through the first year of parenthood, and what an amazing year it has been. I was asked this morning if it felt like a year has passed and my honest answer was yes and no. There have definitely been some rough patches, which seemed to last a long time, but then on the flip side, Taryn has grown and changed so quickly that it is hard to believe one year has passed. She started walking around 11 months, has four teeth (3 top and 1 bottom) and is starting to show signs of serious independence (lets just say the tantrums are more frequent these days).

Her Birthday Weekend...

Brad and I took her to the Cameron Park Zoo in Waco on Friday to celebrate her actual birthday and we had such a good time. God smiled down on us that day for the weather was great, not the scorching 100 degrees that it has been. Taryn's favorite part seemed to be the aquarium, where she could get right up to the exhibit and peek in. She was so curious about everything that she saw during our visit, I can't wait to take her back again. On Saturday, we had her party and what another great day that was. We celebrated among close family at our home and really enjoyed everyone that attended. Taryn loved all her gifts and her balloons, but was not to fond of her little cupcake. I don't think she really knew what to do with it...

On Sunday, we had her baptised and she behaved as good as we could have hoped for, for a toddler...Our pastor kept telling us that she was perfect...haha...she did do good, but I did have to make an exit with her during the sermon. It was such a great experience for Brad and I to bring her into a Christian promise of "Faith" for her life. She has so many wonderful years ahead of her in the church.

Our sweet little girl is 1 and we could not be happier. We had a great weekend of celebrating her first year of life and look forward to the many more years ahead!

11 Months Old

We are on the count down to our little girl's 1st Birthday! One whole year has just about passed by and it has been one of the most exhausting and wonderful. Taryn is really such a happy and social baby, except if you are changing her diaper...she hates to slow down! Go, Go, Go...is her way of life. She is so close to walking by herself, she practically runs behind her push toys....so funny to watch. She is finally cutting teeth...but had to do it her way...top teeth first! I wonder if this is a sign of the years to come? The first tooth did not seem to give her to much grief, but the next two have been awful! Brad and I researched to see just how many time we have to do this...talk about an irritable little girl...YIKES!
To catch up...
In the last month I took Taryn to the ocean for the first time....she HATED the water, but loved the sand. We visited Aunt Julie and Uncle Jeff in Corpus Christi for a little weekend getaway. They were such great hosts. I also had my first Mother's Day, which was a great day for me. I have to be a sap though and say that every day is a Mother's Day for me. I love being Taryn's mommy. When she wraps her little arms around me and smiles her gummy, partially tooth filled grin at me, I think that this is really what life is all about...She's so special to me and Brad. Speaking of Brad...well let's just say that wrapped around a little finger is putting it mildly...daddy really does love his little girl.
I also introduced Taryn to some of our extended family in May at her Great Great Uncle Jimmy's Memorial golf tournament and lunch. I feel blessed to have such a wonderful extended family that Taryn is a part of.
Hmmm...well, I am sure that I forgot something, too much going on lately, but that's just about everything for now anyway...

Easter Weekend

What a great Easter holiday our family had. Taryn had her picture made with the Easter rabbit on Friday and did great, we really had no idea how she would do, I actually thought she would cry, but to our surprise she did just fine...she was really fascinated with the buttons on his vest and kept grabbing at them, really funny...on Sunday morning we attempted church for the first time and spent the entire time out in the foyer...LOL, so I have no idea what the sermon was about???? But it counts right?!?! We enjoyed a late lunch with my family and hunted eggs Sunday afternoon at Great Mawmaw and Papa's house, which was so much fun...It was a long day, but an enjoyable one...

Givin' Dada love...

Zesty!

Busy, Busy, Busy...Taryn is 8 1/2 months old now and really has the crawling down good. She's started working on pulling up, but not quite there yet. She can manuever into a bear crawl position, which is really funny. She puts everything in her mouth except food! I've tried unsuccessfully to start new "finger" foods with her, even though she still has NO teeth, and all she does is mash it around with her fingers...but then last night I found out she really likes pickles, and not just dill, she loved a zesty pickle spear I gave her. She's so funny...Brad found out 2 nights ago that NO may not be in her vocabulary yet, but she knows what is means...he was trying to feed her and she just started shaking her head no...she let him know that she was DONE!

Taryn is 7 months and 3 weeks old, and crawling! She has been so close to it, and finally this past Friday she got her arms and legs coordinated together! It's so fun to watch her move around now. We also got the wonderful and exciting news that she is going to have a new cousin in October. Her Aunt Julie and Uncle Jeff are expecting their first baby. So much fun lies ahead!

1st Overnighter!

So, Taryn had her 1st over night stay away from momma and dada this past Saturday night, we had a wedding to attend, and it was a success for all 3 of us. Papa and Nonna were glad to have her... I think Auntie Janet played dress up with her, and we had a nice evening alone. I was proud of myself for not crying, but it took some time to adjust...I did not remember how to be social...haha...The wedding was nice and Taryn adjusted fine, at least that's what nonna said...if she didn't, I don't know if nonna really would have told me...

Taryn's Ears are Pierced

So, to nonna's satisfaction, I finally took Taryn, along with Auntie Janet, and got Taryn's ears pierced this past Saturday. I was so close to chickening out, but with a little persuasion from Janet, I followed through...and now I'm glad I did. Taryn did really wonderful, a real "big" girl! She did cry, but just for a brief second, after her second ear was done...she looks soooo cute! Little pink stones.
